Job summary

UHI North, West and Hebrides in Dornoch invites applications for a Lecturer to deliver the Golf curriculum at the Centre for Golf. The role focuses on preparing students for careers in the golf industry, combining industry experience with structured teaching and assessment.

We seek candidates with strong communication, planning and assessment skills, and a passion for golf. The post is a 35-hour, fixed-term appointment for one academic year, located at Dornoch.

Qualifications

  • The suitable candidate will hold an SCQF Level 7 - Level 12 qualification, normally above the level being taught and in a relevant subject area to the course
  • Golf industry experience, preferably with management responsibilities
  • A teaching qualification, preferably TQFE, PGDE or equivalent, or a Masters in Education would be advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Provide structured education to students using a variety of approaches to enable them to meet industry standards
  • Carrying out assessments to industry/awarding body standards and maintaining accurate assessment records
  • Evaluating student performance and achievement, making recommendations and highlighting support needs as appropriate
  • Deliver modules relating to all aspects of golf management and professional golf; adapt delivery to candidate knowledge and experience

Lecturer - Golf

Reference no. NWH LECGO 01. Salary range £43,402 - £52,247 per annum. Duration Fixed Term for 1 Academic Year. Working hours 35 hours per week, full-time. Location Dornoch. Closing Date 12pm, Friday 25th September 2026.

Position: Due to the success and growth of our programmes we have an exciting opportunity to join our team delivering the Golf curriculum at UHI North, West and Hebrides Dornoch campus. Our two full-time degree programmes are delivered from our UHI Centre for Golf. The post of lecturer is open for applicants who have a passion for the golf industry and are looking to help the next generation of industry professionals on starting their careers in the golf industry. We are looking for someone with a strong background working in the golf industry.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will provide structured education to students using a variety of approaches to enable them to meet the standards required. Carrying out assessments to the standards set by the industry/awarding body, maintaining accurate assessment records, evaluating student performance and achievement, making recommendations and highlighting support needs as appropriate are also requirements of the role. The programmes contain modules relating to all aspects of golf management and professional golf. Specific delivery may be adapted to best suit the successful candidate’s areas of knowledge and experience.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills: The suitable candidate will hold an SCQF Level 7 - Level 12 qualification, normally above the level being taught and in a relevant subject area to the course and have golf industry experience, preferably with management responsibilities. Along with a proven track record of effective planning to deliver engaging learning, teaching, assessment and supervision, successful candidates must be good communicators who are self-motivated and enthusiastic, with the ability to deal with rapidly changing priorities and meet tight deadlines. A teaching qualification, preferably TQFE, PGDE or equivalent, or a Masters in Education would be advantageous to your application.

Salary: £43,402 - £52,247 per annum

Location: Dornoch

Working Hours: 35 hours, Fixed Term for 1 academic year
