About The Role

Lecturer - Tutor/ Supervisors Children and Young People Psychological Trainings Autism/LD (Education and Scholarship)

This part-time 0.2 post is immediately available on a fixed term contract until 31 December 2026.

In line with the University’s fair employment for all principles, any further funding opportunities identified will be reviewed and discussed during the contract.

Salary will be £43,482 per annum pro rata on Grade F for the Lecturer level. The post may attract a market supplement, in line with Agenda for Change 8a depending on skills and experience.

Cedar is a Clinical Applied Psychological Practice Centre of Excellence. We are one of the largest providers of training in evidence-based psychological practice and therapies in the UK. We offer a wide-ranging portfolio from CPD, Professional training Programmes (Undergraduate up to Masters level programmes), through to post qualification and advanced practice courses. This role offers the opportunity to join Cedar in the training and development of the next generation of psychological therapists developing skills to support children young people with autism or a learning disability. This training is part of the National NHS Children and Young People’s Psychological Training programmes the CYP Autism/LD course has been running at Exeter University for 6 years.

The Role

We are seeking to appoint a new Lecturer, Tutor/ Supervisor for the Autism pathway of the children and young person’s psychological therapies diploma. The course currently runs on a Wednesday and Thursday during term time.

The successful applicants will have experience and knowledge in working therapeutically with autistic young people, young people with a learning disability and with their families. They will have knowledge and experience of adapting cognitive behavioural therapy and parenting interventions with this client group. The role will involve supporting trainees by delivery of supervision, knowledge and clinical skills tutorials mainly online. You will work with other supervisors, and the Academic and Programme Lead to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of clinical supervision within the teaching programme in accord with the College’s education strategy and implementing the External Affairs strategy.

The post will require the post holder to.

  • act as independent practitioner, supervising the formulation and implementation of appropriate treatment plans for trainees undertaking training.
  • work alongside clinical supervisors, academics, trainers and clinicians to provide a high quality supervisory service
  • undertake marking and assess clinical competency and academic assignments of trainees with a range of approaches as required
  • keep records of supervision sessions and reflectively discuss clinical cases with the supervisory team
  • design and implement clinical skills training both online and face to face to support trainee development.
  • implement policies and propose changes to practices, procedures for your own area of work and propose policy or service changes which impact beyond their own area for the wider training and clinic settings
  • offer 1-1 tutorials liaising with workplace supervisors and teams, where necessary.
About you

For a Lecturer post you will:

  • Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist and core knowledge in the discipline, demonstrated by a professional practice qualification or extensive experience of working with young people and families using adapted CBT and parenting interventions for this client group.
  • Be experienced in providing supervision for those delivering adapted CBT and parenting intervention with children and young people
  • Use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students
