Job summary

South Hampshire College Group is seeking a Chef Lecturer to deliver an outstanding, student-centred learning experience across courses and practical sessions in Kitchens and Restaurant.

You will support learners through their learning and placements, providing academic and pastoral guidance to help them succeed.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C or equivalent.
  • Level 3/4 qualification in the relevant area (or commitment to achieving this in required timeframe).
  • Level 5 Teaching qualification (or commitment to achieving this in required timeframe).

Responsibilities

  • Teach on courses and RWE sessions within Kitchens and Restaurant and ensure outstanding provision.
  • Deliver classroom teaching, tutorials, outreach duties, residentials and student placements.
  • Handle organisational tasks: marking, feedback, welfare and academic counselling as required.

Job description

Duties
  • To teach on courses and RWE sessions within the Kitchens and Restaurant and work to continue to ensure that it is an outstanding provision that has a positive impact on the learner and assessment process
  • Classroom teaching, tutorial work and associated outreach duties, residential, open and distance learning courses and student placements
  • All associated organisational and administrative work, preparation and marking and appropriate student welfare and academic counselling responsibilities;
  • Acting as a Personal Tutor to students as required and undertaking all of the associated duties including pastoral care support.
  • Making a full contribution to the team approach to learning and teaching.
  • Implementing a student-centred negotiated learning programme in accordance with the College’s curriculum framework.
  • Implementing agreed induction procedures and processes for students.
  • Ensuring that students are informed of what is expected of them at every stage of their programme and that an awareness of what the programme involves is a feature of all reviews undertaken with students.
  • Ensuring that appropriate assignments, tasks and activities are regularly set and assessed and that feedback is given to students in ways that will allow them to develop and achieve progression.
  • Contributing to the organisation of and ensure that there are appropriate workplacements.
Skills/Experience
  • Highly motivated professional with a range of industry experience and knowledge
  • Good working knowledge of IT
Qualifications
  • Minimum GCSE grade 4 / C in English & Maths or equivalent.
  • Level3/4qualification in the relevant area of expertise (or commitment to achieving this in the requiredtimeframe)
  • Level 5 Teaching qualification (or commitment to achieving this in the requiredtimeframe)
