The South Hampshire College Group is seeking a Travel & Tourism Lecturer to inspire learners with engaging, student-centred teaching and real-world outcomes. You will deliver lectures, tutorials and placements, and provide pastoral support as Personal Tutor.

Qualifications

  • Experience in course structure, delivery and assessment planning.
  • Experience in assessment and quality monitoring, in line with awarding body requirements.
  • Experience maintaining accurate records of student performance, attendance and progress.
  • Experience supporting student work experience and placements.
  • Ability to provide support and guidance to teaching staff and team members.
  • Experience working with employers, clients, assessors and examination boards.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom teaching, tutorial work and outreach duties including residential, open and distance learning courses and student placements.
  • Undertake organisational and administrative duties including preparation and marking and student welfare responsibilities.
  • Act as a Personal Tutor to students, providing pastoral care and support.
  • Contribute to the team approach to learning and teaching.
  • Implement student-centred, negotiated learning programmes within the curriculum framework.

Job description

As our Travel & Tourism Lecturer, you'll inspire and empower students to achieve their ambitions, delivering engaging, student-centred learning that brings the world of travel and tourism to life. You'll build positive relationships, support students throughout their learning journey as a Personal Tutor, and work collaboratively with colleagues to create an inclusive environment where every student can thrive and succeed.

Duties:
  • Deliver classroom teaching, tutorial work and associated outreach duties, including residential, open and distance learning courses and student placements.
  • Undertake all associated organisational and administrative duties, including preparation and marking, as well as appropriate student welfare and academic counselling responsibilities.
  • Act as a Personal Tutor to students as required, undertaking all associated duties, including pastoral care and support.
  • Make a full contribution to the team approach to learning and teaching.
  • Implement a student-centred, negotiated learning programme in accordance with the SHCG's curriculum framework.
  • Implement agreed induction procedures and processes for students.
Skills/Experience:
  • Experience in course structure, delivery and assessment planning.
  • Experience in assessment and quality monitoring, in line with awarding body requirements.
  • Experience maintaining accurate records of student performance, attendance and progress.
  • Experience supporting student work experience and placements.
  • Ability to provide support and guidance to teaching staff and team members.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum GCSE grade 4 / C in English & Maths or equivalent.
  • Level 3/4 qualification in the relevant area of expertise (or commitment to achieving this in the required timeframe)
  • Level 5 Teaching qualification (or commitment to achieving this in the required timeframe)
