Job summary

The part-time, temporary role (16 hours per week) offers a pro‑rata salary of £33,990–£42,764 per year, 50 days annual leave (FT), and access to the Teachers’ Pension Scheme and staff benefits.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification in Arts & Design or related discipline.
  • PGCE / equivalent teaching qualification required.
  • GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or above.
  • Assessor and/or Verifier Awards or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality teaching across Arts & Design programmes.
  • Deliver qualifications across Levels 1–3 and assess learner work.
  • Develop curriculum intent documents and schemes of learning.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback and monitor learner progress.
  • Create an inclusive learning environment and supervise practical workshops.

As a Lecturer in Arts & Design, you will deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment that enables learners to achieve outstanding outcomes and progress towards their chosen career pathways.

Working within our Health, Creative Industries & Protective Services provision, you will teach across a range of Arts & Design programmes, creating engaging learning experiences that motivate, challenge and inspire students.

A key aspect of this role is the ability and experience of delivering Arts & Design qualifications across Levels 1, 2 and 3, ensuring learners develop the creative, technical and professional skills required to progress into higher education, apprenticeships or employment.

You will play a key role in curriculum development, learner progress, pastoral support and the continuous improvement of our provision.

This role is ideal for an experienced practitioner or teacher who is passionate about creative education, committed to learner success and eager to contribute to an ambitious and forward-thinking college.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across Arts & Design programmes.
  • Deliver Arts & Design qualifications across Levels 1, 2 and 3.
  • Develop curriculum intent documentation, schemes of learning and innovative teaching resources.
  • Assess and mark student work, providing timely, constructive and developmental feedback.
  • Monitor learner progress and use assessment data to inform teaching and improve outcomes.
  • Create an engaging, safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes high expectations and positive behaviour.
  • Supervise practical workshops, projects and industry-related learning activities.
  • Support learners through effective pastoral guidance, identifying and referring students for additional support where appropriate.
  • Utilise technology and the College's virtual learning environment to enhance learning and encourage independence.
  • Maintain accurate records including registers, MarkBook and learner progress tracking systems.
  • Participate in curriculum review, innovation and development activities to continuously improve provision.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers, creative organisations and external stakeholders to enrich the learner experience.
  • Participate in open events, admissions activities, parent evenings and learner recruitment events.
  • Contribute to safeguarding, Prevent and the promotion of student wellbeing across the College.
Criteria
Qualifications
  • Relevant Level 3 qualification in Arts & Design or a related creative discipline.
  • PGCE, Certificate in Education, or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
  • Assessor and/or Verifier Awards or equivalent qualification.
Experience & Knowledge
  • Successful teaching experience across a range of levels, including Level 3 provision.
  • Experience delivering Arts & Design qualifications across Levels 1, 2 and 3.
  • Recent industry experience relevant to Arts, Design or the Creative Industries.
  • Detailed knowledge of Arts & Design curriculum requirements, assessment and awarding body expectations.
  • Understanding of learner progress measures and value-added methodologies.
  • Experience developing and maintaining external partnerships to enhance teaching and learning.
