Job summary

Southampton City Council is seeking a Leaving Care Housing Advisor for a 12-month fixed-term role within the Pathways Through Care Service in Southampton. You will support care-experienced young people aged 18-25 with housing pathways, alongside social workers and Personal Advisors, ensuring stability in accommodation.

You will conduct home visits, assess housing risks, and liaise with landlords to improve move-on options while working in a supportive, reflective team environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working in housing, social care, or youth service sectors.
• Knowledge of housing legislation and local housing frameworks.
• Ability to communicate effectively in a multi-professional setting.
• Reflective, systemic thinking and solution-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Advise young people and professionals on housing rights, options, and access to services, including housing register applications.
• Conduct home visits and housing risk assessments to secure safe accommodation.
• Collaborate with multi-agency teams to manage tenancy challenges.
• Communicate with landlords to create move-on options and increase private rented opportunities.
• Work with Personal Advisors and the Project Lead in Staying Close project.
