About You
About The Role
Job Purpose

To work as a link worker within a dynamic support team to undertake learning/support programmes, enabling individual learners to access the curriculum under the guidance of teachers, therapists, and senior assistants. Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area, including off-site visits, home tuition, and supporting physical and complex medical needs.

The Working Hours For This Role Are As Follows

Monday 08:30 – 16:30, Tuesday 08:30 – 17:00, Wednesday 08:30 – 16:30, Thursday 08:30 – 16:30, and Friday 08:30 – 16:00.

Main Duties And Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety, mobility, hygiene, and wellbeing of learners according to manual handling guidelines.
  • Promote standards of care following current protocols.
  • Support inclusion in the classroom, making sure the ‘link child’ feels involved in tasks and activities.
  • Encourage learners to act as independently as possible, fostering their self-esteem and potential.
  • Provide feedback on learners’ progress to the team under guidance.
  • Act as a link worker, supporting and advocating for learners’ needs, respecting their opinions and wishes.
  • Maintain dignity and respect for learners at all times.
  • Follow specific information for learners regarding behaviour, personal care, postural management, sensory needs, and health care, including medication administration.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with parents.
  • Undertake structured activities, adjusting as per learners’ responses.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment/resources for lessons and assist learners in their use.
  • Support the development and implementation of personal progress plans, providing daily feedback.
  • Assist with learning activities in wider curriculum areas such as outings and special events.
  • Contribute to the ethos and aims of the school.
  • Comply with policies on child protection, safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality, and data protection.
  • Develop effective working relationships with staff and other professionals.
  • Support a safe and healthy environment.
  • Participate in training and developmental activities.
  • Support school events like plays and functions.
  • Maintain professionalism at all times.
  • Complete mandatory training, including medical interventions if required.

Protecting children and vulnerable adults is a core responsibility. Staff must report any concerns regarding abuse or inappropriate treatment.
