Job summary

SENDHelp is seeking a compassionate Learning Support Assistant in High Wycombe to support children with complex needs within a specialist educational setting. You will work closely with teachers and therapists to deliver tailored activities in a nurturing environment.

The role focuses on developing communication, independence and emotional regulation through personalised approaches and total communication strategies. Training and progression opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Patience, resilience and a positive attitude.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND.
• Assist teachers with engaging, differentiated activities.
• Support communication using visual aids, Makaton or similar strategies.
• Encourage independence, social interaction and emotional regulation.
• Support sensory activities and therapeutic interventions.
• Assist with personal care and mobility where required.
• Monitor pupil progress and wellbeing and record observations.
• Create a safe, nurturing classroom environment and positive relationships.
