Job summary

Malcolm Arnold Preparatory School in Northampton is seeking a proactive teaching assistant to work under the supervision of a qualified teacher. You will support planning, resource preparation, and class management to raise attainment.

You will assist with SEN and EAL pupils, contribute to school policies, and occasionally supervise classes during short-term teacher absences. The role is 30 hours per week over 39 weeks.

Qualifications

• Assist teachers in planning, monitoring, and assessing pupil progress.
• Support pupils including SEND, EAL, and underachieving groups.
• Help with management of class resources and learning environment.
• Supervise classes during short-term absences.
• Collaborate with staff to raise achievement.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for pupils, teachers, and school policies.
• Undertake specified timetabled teaching duties as agreed.
• Collaborate with staff on planning cycles and resource prep.
• Supervise classes when teachers are absent.
• Observe pupil performance and pass observations to the class teacher.
