Job summary

Waltham Forest College is seeking exceptional Learning Support Practitioners to join us on a casual basis. You will provide practical support to young people and adults with EHCPs and learning barriers, helping them access learning and integrate into college life.

The role requires empathy, excellent communication, and the ability to build strong relationships with learners, staff and external partners, while upholding safeguarding principles.

Qualifications

• Must hold a minimum Level 2 in English and Maths (GCSE D/4 or above).
• Experience with SEN Code of Practice and safeguarding is preferred.
• Good communication skills in verbal and written form.
• Enthusiasm, flexibility and patience.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical support to learners aged 16-18/19-24 with EHCP and learning difficulties.
• Facilitate independence, access to learning and integration into college life.
• Build and maintain good working relationships with learners, teachers and external agencies, with safeguarding at the core.

Waltham Forest College is seeking exceptional Learning Support Practitioners to join us on a casual basis, providing practical support to young people, aged 16-18 or 19-24 with EHCP and adults with learning difficulties, behaviour barriers to learning and/or physical disabilities to facilitate their independence, access to learning, and integration into the life of the College. This casual role offers the flexibility to work hours that suit you, with sessions offered as they arise. You will have good communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and have empathy and interest in helping students fulfil their potential. In addition, you will have the ability to build and maintain good working relationships with learners, teachers, and other external agencies and have a good understanding of safeguarding and its importance.

You must hold a minimum Level 2 (GCSE Grade D/4 or above) in English and Maths, and ideally, you'll be familiar with the SEN Code of Practice and other useful legislation. The most vital attributes are enthusiasm, flexibility, and patience.
