Job summary

Long Road Sixth Form College is seeking a Learning Support Practitioner (SEMH Focus) to join the Academic Support Department. The role is full-time term-time only on a fixed-term contract from an immediate start, with a salary between £26,343 and £28,634 and a pro-rata starting figure of £22,999.47.

You will work with students with EHCPs and disabilities, providing social and emotional support, interventions, and clubs to enhance social interaction and independence.

Qualifications

  • Higher-level Learning Support Practitioner with Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work with staff, students and professionals at all levels.
  • Experience supporting students with autism, ADHD and other needs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver social and emotional interventions and motivational support for students with EHCPs and/or disabilities (Levels 2–4).
  • Provide social and emotional education and interventions for students with a wide range of needs.
  • Support students during unstructured time and run clubs to facilitate social interaction.
  • May support students with welfare and personal care needs.

Learning Support Practitioner (SEMH Focus)

Full-time Term Time Only Fixed Term Contract £26,343 -28,634 Full time equivalent £22,999.47 (Actual starting salary) Immediate start

We are looking for an experienced higher-level Learning Support Practitioner to work in our thriving and Ofsted outstanding Academic Support Department.

The ideal candidate will have a level 3 learning support qualification or experience leading intervention groups, general education to A level standard, and level 4 in Maths and English or equivalent. In addition to the above you will need to be a strong communicator with a flexible approach and have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively with staff, students, and professionals at all levels.

As a Learning Support Practitioner working in partnership with our Specialist Teachers. You will plan and deliver social and emotional interventions and motivational support for students who have Educational Health and Care Plans and/or disabilities studying qualifications from Level 2 up to Level 4

In this role you will provide social and emotional education and interventions for students with a wide range of needs, particularly for students with Autism, and ADHD through individual and small group sessions. You will also be required to support students during unstructured time and run clubs to facilitate social interaction. You might be required to support students with their welfare and personal care needs.

The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting students with additional needs to become well-rounded, socially confident, independent young adults and ideally have experience working alongside individuals with learning differences including autism, language and communication difficulties and social, emotional, and mental health needs.

This role is a fixed-term contract until the end of the academic year, 31st August 2027
