Job summary

Dovetail and Slate is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support learners with additional learning needs within a construction academy setting. This part-time fixed-term role runs two days a week: Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9:00–16:30, Sept to July 2026.

You will help learners engage, progress and build confidence under the guidance of a dedicated team. Experience of supporting learners with SEND in FE, EHCP knowledge, and a calm, patient approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting learners with additional learning needs in FE
• Knowledge and experience of working with young people with SEND
• Experience of supporting learners with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP)
• A calm and patient attitude
• A genuine passion for making a real difference to young people

Responsibilities

• Supporting learners with additional learning needs to access and engage with their programme
• Working closely with learners who have EHCPs
• Helping create a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environment
• Assisting learners to develop skills and confidence to succeed in their chosen profession
