Job summary

The postholder at North East Surrey College of Technology (NESCOT) will lead and coordinate the delivery of learning support for English and maths, managing a team of LSAs and Teaching Assistants to ensure inclusive support for students with additional needs. You will work closely with curriculum teams, parents and external agencies.

You will drive planning, assessments, progress monitoring and EHCP annual reviews, ensuring accurate records and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate delivery of learning support in English and maths by managing and developing staff.
  • Support planning, assessments, target setting and progress monitoring using the graduated approach.
  • Contribute to EHCP annual reviews with parents, carers, Local Authorities and stakeholders.
  • Support quality assurance and continuous improvement, ensuring safeguarding and SEND compliance.
  • Review enrolment levels and contribute to systems including High Needs funding and exam access arrangements.

Job description

The postholders will ensure that students with additional learning needs receive high-quality, responsive support that enables them to achieve and progress. You will play a key role in coordinating support, leading a team of LSAs, Departmental LSAs and English and maths Teaching Assistants (as appropriate), and work closely with curriculum teams, parents/carers and external agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • The post holder will lead and coordinate the effective delivery of learning support in English and maths by managing, deploying and developing support staff, ensuring that students with EHCPs, High Needs funding or additional needs receive appropriate, inclusive support that promotes engagement, wellbeing, attendance and positive behaviour.
  • They will support staff planning assessments, target setting and progress monitoring using the graduated approach; maintain accurate records, while evaluating the impact of support to inform continuous improvement.
  • The post holder will contribute to the EHCP annual review processes, working closely with parents, carers, Local Authorities and other stakeholders to meet statutory requirements, while collaborating with curriculum teams, external agencies and college staff to ensure clear communication of student needs and contribute to wider college activities.
  • They will support quality assurance and continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with safeguarding, equality, inclusion and SEND requirements, and maintaining accurate, audit-ready records.
  • In addition, the English and maths post holder will review enrolment levels and contribute to systems, including High Needs funding, exam access arrangements and student data, to ensure accuracy.
