Job summary

Barking & Dagenham College is seeking a committed Learning Support professional to join the Additional Learning Support (ALS) team on a part-time, 32 hpw, permanent, term-time only basis.

You will provide one-to-one and classroom support for students with learning difficulties and disabilities, working with horizons learners and collaborating with Student Support Advisors to promote inclusive practice and successful progression.

Qualifications

• A level 2 or above qualification.
• Experience coaching students individually or in groups to support success.
• Understanding of academic and vocational education in a college setting.
• Strong oral skills in one-to-one and group settings.
• Excellent written skills to compile procedures and guides.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and in-class support for learners.
• Support students with mild to complex learning needs within Horizons.
• Collaborate with Student Support Advisors to boost engagement and attendance.
• Use learning support systems to implement personalised support plans.
• Monitor learner progress, attendance, behaviour and vocational activity.
• Promote inclusive practice and positive learning behaviours.
• Contribute to creating a safe, supportive learning environment.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate with curriculum and support teams.
