Job summary

The Sydney Russell School is seeking an LSC Student Support Officer to help run the Learning Support Centre and support pastoral care across the school.

You will work closely with the LSC Manager to ensure timely responses to student needs, support investigations, and provide a calm, professional presence in challenging situations. The role includes liaising with safeguarding teams and calling home when appropriate.

Qualifications

• Experience in school pastoral or safeguarding contexts is desirable.
• First Aid training is provided by the school.

Responsibilities

• Assist the LSC Manager with the day-to-day running of the Learning Support Centre (LSC).
• Support Heads of Year with investigations into incidents, including gathering evidence from statements and CCTV where applicable.
• Facilitate mediations between students when appropriate.
• Monitor welfare of vulnerable students and liaise with safeguarding/SEND/wellbeing teams.
• Make calls home to parents when needed during the school day.
• Oversee detentions and supervise students during breaks.
• Cover lessons when no other staff are available.
• Maintain and update the LSC register and related admin tasks.
• Keep parents informed about ongoing issues or concerns.
