We are in search of a Learning Support Assistantto join our Education Centre Based in Spalding. The role is toassist and support teaching staff delivering a broad spectrum of academic and vocational subject areas within the classroomand around the centre.

What will I be doing as a Learning Support Assistant?

A Learning Support Assistant plays a critical role in creating a positive learning environment to support learners in achieve their goals. You will ensure that learners receive high quality support to enable them to make good progress from their starting points.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Identify and maintain focus on achievement of desired outcomes for learners across all subject areas looking at a variety of progression destinations to ensure they are preparing for and participating in suitable opportunities.
  • Have a good understanding of all learners’ needs, including LDD/SEND and supportive strategies that are included in the group profile and initial assessment.
  • Actively engage and motivate learners in decisions that affect them whilst supporting the delivery of tailored programmes that cater for the specific needs, interests and abilities of each individual learner
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff on progress of learners, against targets set, including qualifications and pastoral support needs.
  • Develop relationships and liaise with appropriate external agencies in support of learner’s needs and work collaboratively in a multi-agency setting as required.

Essentials for this role:

  • Experience of working with LLDD students with a SEN, adapting delivery and support to ensure the individual needs of the students are met.
  • English and maths: level 2 or above.

We are looking for the following skills/attribute:

  • An understanding of the needs of disadvantaged young people and those who have become disengaged from mainstream education along with young people with specific learning needs.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills - ability to deal with conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to work as part of a wider team.
  • Communicating to a high standard at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • Calm and objective when facing problems including dealing with challenging behaviour from learners.
  • Previous teaching or learning support experience within an education setting.
