Learning Support Assistant - Secondary SEMH School

Location: Eastleigh, Hampshire

Pay: £13.75 per hour

Full-Time | Immediate Start | Term-Time Only

Permanent Contract Considered Following Successful Probation

We are seeking a committed and energetic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a well-regarded secondary SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Eastleigh. This is a full-time position to start as soon as possible, with the potential for a permanent contract for the right candidate.

Our school provides a supportive and structured environment for students aged 11-16 with SEMH needs. While the school supports pupils with additional behavioural and emotional needs, behaviour is well-managed, and students regularly achieve GCSEs and move on to further education, training, or apprenticeships.

  • Support students in and out of the classroom, promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Work closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored learning interventions
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, acting as a positive and consistent role model
  • Assist in sports-based or active sessions where appropriate - a background in sport or physical activity is a strong advantage
  • Promote independence, resilience, and engagement with education
  • Must be 21 years old or over (due to safeguarding and supervision responsibilities)
  • Prior experience working with young people with SEMH needs is essential
  • A sporty, active or mentoring background is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to individual pupil needs
