Learning Support Assistant

This Learning Support Assistant role involves working 37 hours per week over 38 term time weeks per year. Reporting to the Schools Programme Manager or Lead Learning Support Assistant, and working under the supervision of teaching staff, you will support whole classes, small groups or individual students in line with college policies and individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

As part of our Schools and PVP Provision, you will join a dedicated team supporting young people to build confidence, develop resilience and focus on their personal growth. Building trusting relationships is at the heart of everything we do, and our team is highly skilled at helping students feel safe, valued and understood. Your daily responsibilities will include assisting with the planning, delivery and review of learning activities, as well as supporting students to overcome physical, emotional and learning barriers. You will also assist with assignments, exam preparation and the development of essential English, mathematics and ICT skills. Essential qualifications include Level 2 qualifications, such as GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent), in both English and Mathematics. Candidates should be flexible and willing to adapt to the varying needs of the department, which may include supporting online learning or providing physical assistance to students with mobility needs. Finally, the successful candidate must be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people, strictly adhering to college policies regarding Safeguarding, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Health and Safety, Data Protection and Risk Management.
