Learning Support Assistant - PMLD and Complex Needs (Part Time, Reduced Year)

Leeds City College is recruiting 6 Learning Support Assistants to support our PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disability) and Complex Needs department.

This role is part-time and follows a reduced academic year. We offer a range of working hours:

  • 18 hours over 3 days per week, 39 weeks per year (£10,790 per annum)
  • 30 hours over 5 days per week, 39 weeks per year (£17,984 per annum)

The Vine is a department with over 50 learners with complex needs and behaviours that can challenge. We deliver a varied curriculum tailored to meet each learner's individual needs in line with their EHCPs. Our highly skilled team is dedicated to developing learners' personal and preparation for adulthood skills to prepare them for their future lives. We emphasize teamwork, mutual support, and flexibility while striving for the highest standards. Our ultimate goal is to enable learners to become as independent as possible and lead a happy, fulfilled life.

What You Will Do
  • Support and contribute to the delivery of courses in Independent Living skills, focusing on the key aspects of The Preparation for Adulthood framework.
  • Assist students in line with curriculum objectives and EHCP outcomes.
  • Create resources to engage and develop learners.
  • Support principles and practical skills to help learners transition into adulthood.
  • Assess learners' progress and provide feedback to support their development.
  • Work as part of a team to foster a nurturing, positive environment for learners.
About You

  • Support students according to curriculum objectives and EHCP outcomes.

  • Assist in developing practical and life skills for learners' transition into adulthood.
