Job summary

E-ACT Badock’s Wood Academy in the West of England is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant for maternity cover. You will work closely with pupils, teachers and families to support learning, promote inclusion and help pupils overcome barriers to achievement.

The role focuses on small-group support, adapting resources, monitoring progress and contributing to a positive, safe learning environment. SCP5 pay range and 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, fixed term until 31 August 2027.

Qualifications

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics required at Grade C/4 or above.
• Experience of working with children or young people in an educational or care setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
• Ability to support pupils with a range of learning, social, emotional and behavioural needs, adapting approaches to meet individual requirements.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team, using initiative and maintaining confidentiality at all times.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils' learning and development within the classroom, working with individuals and small groups to help them achieve their full potential.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging learning activities and adapting resources to meet the needs of all learners.
• Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing and inclusion, helping to create a safe, supportive and nurturing learning environment.
• Support pupils with additional learning, social, emotional or behavioural needs, implementing targeted interventions where required.
• Contribute to pupil progress by observing, monitoring and recording achievement, and working collaboratively with teaching staff, parents and other professionals.
