Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are recruiting for a compassionate and resilient Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support pupils with Autism and Complex Needs at a specialist provision in Polegate. As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will work alongside dedicated staff to provide consistent, individualised support to students with autism spectrum conditions and additional learning difficulties. You’ll help create a structured, safe, and supportive environment where every learner can thrive academically and emotionally.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and group support for pupils with autism and complex learning needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in adapting learning materials and managing classroom routines.
  • Encourage communication, social interaction, and the development of life skills.
  • Support with personal care and behaviour management, where necessary.
  • Maintain detailed records of progress and contribute to Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Foster independence, confidence, and a positive attitude to learning.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with autism and/or complex special educational needs.
  • Knowledge of alternative communication methods (PECS, Makaton, AAC) is desirable.
  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach to challenging behaviours and sensory needs.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and child development.
  • Relevant training (e.g., Team Teach, Manual Handling, Autism Awareness) is an advantage.
  • Have anupdated CV(covering thelast ten years barring any unexplained gaps) andan enhanced DBSregistered to theUpdate Service(or be willing to apply for one).
