Job summary

St Bede's Catholic Primary School, Newcastle, is seeking a Learning Support Assistant - Level 2 to provide personalised SEN support on a 1:1 basis and help pupils access the curriculum at an appropriate level.

You will work closely with teaching staff and the SENDCO to ensure learning needs are met, monitor progress, and provide pastoral support within a Catholic ethos. Term-time hours with a fixed-term ending 31 July 2027.

Qualifications

• Is a practising catholic or willing to support the catholic ethos of the school.
• Has experience in supporting SEND pupils.
• Has a hard working, positive attitude to school life.
• Has a good working knowledge of the primary curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalised SEN provision on a 1:1 basis, supporting the pupil in accessing the curriculum at an appropriate level.
• Adapt learning to make it accessible for students with specific needs and monitor progress.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCO to ensure provision is effective and that learning needs are met.
• Provide pastoral support and contribute to a supportive learning environment.

Salary Grade BB03: £25,483 per annum pro rata. Actual approx £15,454

30 hours per week, term time only + 3 training day Actual hours Monday - Friday hours to be discussed. Monday Tuesday part time hours Wednesday - Friday full days. Fixed term until July 31st 2027

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant - Level 2 to join our team, providing key SEN support within the classroom on a 1:1 basis and working closely with other teaching staff and SENDCO to ensure provision is effective and that learning needs are met.

Job overview

As a Learning Support Assistant - Level 2, you’ll provide personalised SEN provision on a 1:1 basis, supporting the pupil in accessing the curriculum at an appropriate level and adapting the learning to make it accessible for students with specific needs. This role also involves providing pastoral support, and you’ll monitor progress to feed back to the class teacher whilst working closely with relevant staff to ensure an individual reaches their full potential.
