Morgan Hunt is pleased to announce that we are working with several Colleges and Sixth forms across the county on a preferred supplier basis. Together we are seeking to appoint Learning Support Assistant in the South West London area.

This temporary ongoing role involves providing targeted support for students, maintaining records, and assisting with general pastoral care during College hours, in a dynamic educational environment.

Qualifications

• Possess or be willing to work towards Literacy and Numeracy qualification at Level 2 or above.
• Possess an appropriate support qualification or be willing to undertake training.
• IT skills including basic Microsoft Word and Outlook; able to search the Internet.
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Motivation to support students with disabilities and/or learning difficulties.
• Previous relevant experience.
• Willing to undertake training and development as required.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic knowledge of First Aid, food hygiene and Health and Safety, or willingness to undertake training.
• Awareness of equal opportunities.
• Awareness of safeguarding and prevent initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective support for individual or groups of students in a classroom setting covering a range of levels and subjects.
• Identify opportunities for the student(s) to work independently where appropriate, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times; at such times to support other students in the classroom as appropriate.
• Keep accurate records of the support provided and the students' progress and attendance, monitoring if adjustments are consistently made in class.
• Encourage the student(s) to interact with others and engage in activities led by the lecturer.
• Assist with the general pastoral care of the student(s).
• Provide support for students' emotional and social needs by encouraging and modelling positive behavior in line with the College's Behavior Policy, and demonstrating high expectations of work and behavior.
• Work with students to reinforce learning by practicing skills already taught.
• Accompany lecturers and students on College visits, and participate in college functions within College hours.
