Job summary

Vale of Glamorgan Council is seeking a part-time Learning Support Assistant to support pupils during term-time hours. The role is 16.5 hours per week across 39 weeks per year, with supervision within the school and alignment to the teachers’ planning cycle to ensure all pupils have equal access to learning.

The successful candidate should have NVQ 3 or equivalent, first aid training, and a solid understanding of ALN needs (ASD/ADHD).

Qualifications

• NVQ 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification.
• First aid training.
• Understanding ALN (ASD/ADHD) and how children learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development and implementation of IDPs.
• Support pupils in literacy and numeracy development.
• Reinforce teaching points during teacher input.
• Model acceptable behaviour and professional conduct.
• Maintain confidentiality and safeguarding.
• Attend to pupils' personal needs and assist with related programs, including first aid and basic care.
