Job summary

Vale of Glamorgan Council's St Athan Primary School is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support pupils, under guidance, to access learning and participate in class activities. The role is 16.5 hours per week across 39 weeks per year, during term time, with pay details linked to SCP 8 (Level 3).

Key duties include assisting with literacy and numeracy support, personal care when needed, safeguarding and contributing to IDPs.

Qualifications

• Very good numeracy/literacy skills.
• NVQ 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification.
• Appropriate first aid training.

Responsibilities

• To support individuals and groups of pupils to enable access to learning.
• Work under the guidance of teaching staff to help all pupils have equal access to learning.
• Assist with development and implementation of IDPs.
• Attend to pupils’ personal needs, including social, health and mobility support, with medication as required.
