St Teresa's Catholic Primary School, Colchester is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join our team. The role involves supporting phonics and early reading, delivering small group interventions, and assisting with intimate care and class cover when needed.

The post is 28.75 hours per week, 39 weeks a year (term time plus inset days). Applicants should have a strong command of English and a positive, flexible approach to day-to-day school life.

Qualifications

• A high standard of written and spoken English.
• Strong work ethic with flexibility to respond to day-to-day school life.
• Calm and motivated attitude with an understanding of the needs and behaviours of all children, including those with additional needs.
• A good sense of humour.
• Previous experience in an LSA role or similar is preferable.
• Willingness to undertake training to develop professional skills and knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Working alongside class teachers to ensure all children learn and make progress across the curriculum.
• Supporting teaching of phonics/early reading and fluency.
• Delivering small group intervention activities to support those needing extra support.
• Supporting children's intimate care needs e.g. dressing, changing, supporting toileting.
• Class cover in the absence of a teacher.
