Job summary

St Helens College and Knowsley Community College are seeking a permanent Learning Assistant to join the Learner Support team, based at Knowsley Community College. The role requires assisting a range of educational needs in and out of the classroom and prior SEN experience, with CPD on learning difficulties and disabilities.

The post offers a supportive environment, 36 hours per week, and a permanent/term-time contract with pension and wellbeing benefits.

Qualifications

Experience supporting learners with additional needs (SEN).
GCSE Maths and English at grade 5 or equivalent.
Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning (Learning Assistant).

Responsibilities

To implement specialist support for individuals as per their Support Plan.
To enable students to overcome barriers to learning by employing appropriate teaching and learning strategies.
To monitor the effectiveness of specialist support and feedback to the Learner Support Manager.
To assist with the physical and emotional needs of students and to manage changing behaviours of students, with vocational tutors.
To encourage independence whenever possible, e.g., giving choices and prompting.
To monitor progress in lessons and record Support Logs for individual students on ProMonitor.
