Job summary

Philosophy Education LTD. is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a Rochester secondary school from September/October 2026. You will support students with SEND, work with teachers and the SEND department, and help learners access the curriculum.

The role offers a chance to gain experience in a supportive environment with ongoing professional development and opportunities for progression within education.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting students with SEND including Autism, ADHD, SEMH or moderate learning difficulties is desirable.
• Experience in a secondary school environment is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Patient, caring and resilient approach.

Responsibilities

• Support students with SEND within classroom and in small groups or 1:1 interventions.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
• Adapt learning resources to meet individual student needs.
• Encourage student engagement, confidence and independence.
• Promote positive behaviour and support school behaviour policy.
• Work with teachers, SEND team and external professionals.
• Assist with monitoring progress and recording observations.
• Provide pastoral support and help create a safe learning environment.
• Support students during breaktimes and school activities as required.
