Job summary

Outwood Academy Ormesby in Tees Valley invites applications for a Teaching Assistant to support teachers with planned learning activities and monitor student progress.

You will assist students with SEND and EAL, help develop individual plans and contribute to their social, emotional and welfare wellbeing, including during visits and examinations. Strong communication and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience of working effectively in a school environment or with children and young people.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work flexibly to meet needs.
• Proficiency with standard ICT packages, including Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to undertake training and support for students with medical or care plans.
• Experience with SEND and/or challenging behaviours is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Implement planned learning activities and support the teacher in monitoring student progress.
• Provide constructive feedback to students and monitor learning.
• Support students with SEND and EAL, helping develop individual plans like One Page Profiles and EHCPs.
• Support social and emotional well-being and assist with eating, dressing and hygiene where required.
• Provide cover and assistance in intervention settings such as the Bridge and PLC.
• Escort and supervise students on educational visits and invigilate examinations.
