Job description

Learning Support Assistant

Windsor Forest Colleges Group is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join the Creative team at our Berkshire College of Agriculture campus on a full time, term time only basis.

This role involves working 37 hours per week over 37 term time weeks per year. The role pays on Scale G of the Support Staff pay scale offering a pro rata salary of £21,166.19 (G17) up to £22,662.10 (G19). The full time equivalent would be £25,483 (G17) up to £27,284 (G19) depending on qualifications and experience.

Learning Support Assistants are a vital part of Windsor Forest Colleges Group, helping students fully access their classes, achieve their learning goals and reach their full potential. Reporting to the Schools Programme Manager or Lead Learning Support Assistant, and working under the supervision of teaching staff, you will support whole classes, small groups or individual students in line with college policies and individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

As part of our Creative Team, you will join a dedicated team supporting young people to build confidence, develop resilience and focus on their personal growth. Building trusting relationships is at the heart of everything we do, and our team is highly skilled at helping students feel safe, valued and understood. Your daily responsibilities will include assisting with the planning, delivery and review of learning activities, as well as supporting students to overcome physical, emotional and learning barriers. You will also assist with assignments, exam preparation and the development of essential English, mathematics and ICT skills. In addition, the role involves monitoring student behaviour, maintaining confidential records, adapting learning materials and supporting the use of specialist equipment where required.

To be considered for this role, you should have a positive attitude, a proactive approach and strong organisational skills. We welcome applications from individuals with experience working with young people, ideally within an educational setting, and an understanding of how to support neurodivergent learners and those with additional learning needs. Essential qualifications include Level 2 qualifications, such as GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent), in both English and Mathematics. Candidates should be flexible and willing to adapt to the varying needs of the department, which may include supporting online learning or providing physical assistance to students with mobility needs. Finally, the successful candidate must be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people, strictly adhering to college policies regarding Safeguarding, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Health and Safety, Data Protection and Risk Management.

Join our exceptional team and make a real difference to the lives of young people, helping them to build confidence, develop independence and achieve success in a supportive and rewarding environment.
