Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join the Croesyceiliog School support staff team. The role involves assisting pupils with a mix of one-to-one and in-class support, including those with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, as planned by class teachers.

Successful candidates will have experience in mainstream or specialist behaviour settings and registration with the Education Workforce Council.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child development and barriers to learning
• Ability to support pupils individually and in groups
• Ability to encourage pupils to engage and stay on task

Responsibilities

• Support pupils, recognising and responding to their individual needs
• Work with pupils individually or in groups on programmes planned by class teachers
• Support learners within a class, including pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties
• Provide care and support to pupils
• Encourage pupils to engage in activities and classroom-based work
• Help pupils stay on task
• Liaise with parents and carers, keeping them informed of their child's behaviour and building positive relationships
