Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for a Pupil Referral Unit in Aberdare. The role is temporary from September until the Easter holidays, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position for the right candidate.

You will work with students on a one-to-one and small group basis, supporting their learning, promoting positive behaviour, and helping create a safe, engaging classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour, SEMH or additional learning needs.
• A calm, patient and resilient approach to supporting students.
• Strong behaviour management skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Aberdare that is committed to providing a supportive and nurturing learning environment for pupils who require additional support. The provision focuses on building positive relationships, improving confidence and helping every student achieve their full potential through tailored education and encouragement.

The school is looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant on a temporary basis from September until the Easter holidays, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position for the right Learning Support Assistant. The successful Learning Support Assistant will work closely with students on a one-to-one and small group basis, supporting their learning, promoting positive behaviour and helping to create a safe, engaging classroom environment.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will have:

• Experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour, SEMH or additional learning needs
• A calm, patient and resilient approach to supporting students
• Strong behaviour management skills
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
• A proactive and positive attitude
