Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Teaching Assistant for a well-established Pupil Referral Unit in Newport, Wales. The role is full-time, long-term temporary, supporting secondary-aged pupils and working closely with teachers to promote engagement and positive behaviour.

The successful candidate will be calm, patient and resilient with excellent communication and teamwork skills and a genuine commitment to helping vulnerable learners.

Qualifications

• Experience working with secondary-aged pupils in PRU/alternative provision or similar setting.
• Strong behaviour management skills.
• Ability to build positive and professional relationships with young people.
• A calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable learners.

Responsibilities

• Support secondary-aged pupils in a Pupil Referral Unit, collaborating with teaching staff.
• Promote engagement and manage behaviour positively to aid learning.
• Help students overcome barriers to learning and re-engage with education.
