To provide learning and care support for two delightful year 2 children with autism. To be part of the team working around these children, working towards positive outcomes for their education. Supporting the pupils with routines, transitions, behaviour management, communication and intimate care.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Supporting the pupils in the classroom and playground as necessary. Building a positive relationship with the children, families and colleagues.
  • Assisting with the development and delivery of education support and care plans.


Teaching and learning

  • Working with the class teachers and special needs lead in school in order to adopt relevant strategies to support and increase the children’s achievements.
  • Contributing ideas to the planning of learning activities and delivering activities when directed inside or outside the classroom.
  • Helping the pupils achieve their full potential in all areas of learning.
  • Promoting, supporting and facilitating inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils.
  • Using effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the school’s policy and procedures Helping manage teaching space and resources to maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment.
  • Through observations, provide regular feedback to teachers and parents on the children's progress, attainment and barriers to learning.
  • Reading and understand lesson plans shared prior to lessons, if available.
  • Working with staff, parents/carers and relevant professionals.
  • Sharing knowledge and understanding of children with other school staff and education, health and social care professionals.
  • Communicating effectively with other staff members, pupils, and parents and carers.
  • Keeping other professionals accurately informed about performance, progress and any areas of concern. Collaborating and working with colleagues and other relevant professionals.
  • Developing effective professional relationships with colleagues.


Professional development

  • Helping to keep their own knowledge and understanding relevant and up to date by reflecting on their own practice, liaising with school leaders, and identifying relevant professional development to improve personal effectiveness.
  • Taking opportunities to build the appropriate skills, qualifications, and/or experience needed for the role, with support from the school.
  • Taking part in the school’s appraisal procedures.


Other Areas Of Responsibility

Safeguarding

  • You will work in line with statutory safeguarding guidance (e.g. Keeping Children Safe in Education, Prevent) and our safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • You will promote the safeguarding of all pupils in the school.
