Job summary

Spencer Academies Trust is seeking a Learning and Progress Assistant to support students with SEND on a multi-disciplinary team. The role involves individualised interventions and whole-class work to promote academic and social development.

We require someone who can work with teachers to maximise achievement, support classroom management, and provide welfare and care for students within the Learning and Inclusion centre environment.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with SEND students.
• Ability to support both individual and group interventions.

Responsibilities

• Support access to learning in liaison with the class teacher to maximise achievement.
• Assist with classroom management and support student learning and behaviour.
• Provide general care and welfare to students.
• Contribute to the ethos and aims of the school.
• Support and coordinate provision for students assigned as keyworker.
• Deliver interventions as required.

Job description

The Learning and Progress Assistant will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the postholder will provide support to students with SEND. This will involve individualised interventions and whole class work in order to support students with their academic and social development

• Supporting access to learning for students in liaison with the class teacher in order to maximise achievement
• Providing general support in classroom management including students' learning and behaviour
• Providing general care and welfare to students
• Contributing to the overall ethos, work and aims of the school
• Supporting and coordinating provision for students they are allocated as keyworker for.
• Provide where necessary interventions

The nature of the academy year requires some of these tasks to be done regularly whilst others will be on an annual cycle. The Inclusion Faculty at George Spencer Academy is highly regarded. The faculty is based in the Learning and Inclusion centre which opened in 2012. We are looking for staff who want to support in taking the faculty forward and are passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people.
