Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting Learning Support Assistants to work across primary schools in Salford. The role offers day-to-day, short-term, or long-term placements starting ASAP and provides exposure to caring, inclusive and aspirational environments.

You will support pupils with learning, development and wellbeing, build confidence, and collaborate with teachers to implement learning plans. A patient, adaptable approach and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children in school, nursery, childcare or similar setting is desirable.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND or additional learning needs would be advantageous.
  • A genuine passion for helping children learn, develop and reach their potential.
  • Patient, empathetic and nurturing approach to supporting pupils.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with their learning across the primary curriculum.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to help pupils access learning.
  • Support pupils with additional learning needs and SEND.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence and communication skills.
  • Adapt activities and resources to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Support positive behaviour and encourage engagement with learning.
  • Work with teachers to implement individual support strategies and learning plans.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and act as a positive role model.
  • Support pupils with social and emotional development.
  • Assist with classroom organisation, preparation and day-to-day activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, teaching assistants, SEND staff and wider school team.
  • Uphold safeguarding procedures and promote welfare of all children and young people.

Requirements or Skills:
  • Previous experience supporting children within a school, nursery, childcare or similar setting is desirable.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND or additional learning needs would be highly advantageous.
  • A genuine passion for helping children learn, develop and reach their potential.
  • Patient, empathetic and nurturing approach to supporting pupils.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and school staff.
