Job summary

Teaching Personnel, Plymouth, is seeking Learning Support Assistants to work across primary schools in Plymouth and surrounding areas. The role offers flexible options (full-time, part-time or flexible supply) with daily pay of £90-£100 depending on experience and an September 2026 start date.

The ideal candidate will support teachers, work with individuals and groups, and assist children with Special Educational Needs. DBS on Update Service or willingness to apply is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to apply.
  • Passionate about helping children learn and develop.
  • Patient, positive and enthusiastic with a caring approach.
  • Confident in communicating and working as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.

We have a range of opportunities available across mainstream primary schools and specialist SEND settings, including day-to-day supply, short-term and long-term placements.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant you will:

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Work with individuals and small groups of pupils to support learning and development.
  • Provide additional support for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help create a safe, nurturing classroom environment.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for individuals who are:

  • Experienced working with children or young people (school experience is desirable).
  • Passionate about helping children learn and develop.
  • Patient, positive and enthusiastic with a caring approach.
  • Confident communicators who enjoy working as part of a team.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to different school settings.
  • Available to work between 8:30am and 3:30pm on their chosen working days.
  • In possession of an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willing to apply for one.
