Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Nottingham on a long-term basis starting in September. You will provide targeted support to pupils with SEND, helping them access lessons and participate in school life, while collaborating with the SENCO and teaching staff.

The role suits someone with recent experience with children, a calm, nurturing approach, and a commitment to safeguarding and inclusion. Training opportunities available.

Qualifications

  • Recent experience working with children or young people.
  • SEND experience desirable.
  • Experience supporting autism, ADHD or SEMH would be advantageous.
  • Patient, calm and nurturing approach.

Responsibilities

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND.
  • Helping pupils access lessons and participate fully in school life.
  • Supporting pupils with communication, social and emotional development.
  • Implementing individual support strategies and EHCP outcomes.
  • Delivering targeted interventions and learning activities.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive relationships.
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team.
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.

Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND
  • Helping pupils access lessons and participate fully in school life
  • Supporting pupils with communication, social and emotional development
  • Implementing individual support strategies and EHCP outcomesSupporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Delivering targeted interventions and learning activities
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive relationships
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
Requirements or Skills:
  • Recent experience working with children or young people
  • Previous SEND experience is highly desirable
  • Experience supporting autism, ADHD or SEMH would be advantageous
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable
  • Patient, calm and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
