Personal attributes

We are seeking enthusiastic and committedLearning Support Assistantsto join our Support for Learning Faculty. You will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and English as an Additional Language (EAL).

You’ll work closely with class teachers, SEN staff, and other professionals to provide tailored support to individual students and small groups, helping them access the curriculum and develop their confidence, independence and academic progress.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support SEN students in and outside the classroom
  • Adapt and deliver teaching strategies and resources
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to SEN records and reports
  • Help manage behaviour positively and support school-wide expectations
  • Assist with medical needs and physical care where required
  • Promote equality, diversity, safeguarding, and student well-being
  • Participate in school outings, training, and performance development
What We’re Looking For

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Have experience working with young people with diverse educational needs
  • Can build positive relationships and communicate effectively
  • Are flexible, empathetic, patient, and resilient
  • Are committed to inclusive education and continuous professional development
  • Are willing to support and promote the Christian ethos of the school
    Essential Requirements
    • Degree in relevant National Curriculum Subject or NVQ or Teaching Support Certificate
    • Qualification in SEND support or substantial experience in SEND support
    • GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English and/or Maths
    • Experience in secondary educational organisations

    Expertise in areas such as:

    • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
    • Emotional Literacy
    • Cognition and Learning
    • Educational Testing (CCET)
    • Numeracy support
    • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices
    • Excellent ICT skills, particularly Google Suite
    Desirable Skills, Experience and Qualifications
    • Experience in Coaching and Mentoring in Education
    • Experience working in partnership with a Speech and Language Therapist, implementing and supporting individual or group therapy programmes
    • A willingness to train in specialist SEN needs
    • A willingness to train in First Aid
Salary & Benefits

Start date:As soon as possible

Salary: (Local Government (NJC): Scale 3 Term Time Only (39 weeks, 35 hours per week)
