Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work across Colchester and surrounding areas in schools and specialist settings. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND, including autism, ADHD and SEMH, helping them access education in a positive, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Patient, caring and resilient with a passion for supporting pupils with SEND.
• Available for flexible start ASAP / ongoing.
• Experience in education settings preferred.
• Ability to work with teachers and SENCOs.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND
• Supporting children with needs including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, communication needs and learning difficulties
• Helping pupils engage with lessons and classroom activities
• Supporting pupils with their social, emotional and communication development
• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive behaviour
• Supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour
• Following individual education, behaviour and support plans
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other education professionals
• Providing a calm, safe and nurturing learning environment
• Supporting pupils throughout the school day where required
