Job Description

The Learning Support Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting students with additional learning needs within the education setting. The main duties include:

Job Duties:

  • Assisting students on a 1-1 basis with their learning activities under the guidance of the teaching staff
  • Providing one-to-one support to students who require additional help
  • Helping to create and maintain a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Assisting with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Supporting students with emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • Assisting with the monitoring of student progress and reporting back to teaching staff
  • Attending Training days and sessions set up by school

Required Qualifications:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Relevant experience working with individuals with additional learning needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within an educational setting
  • Knowledge of special educational needs and disabilities
  • Understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Ability to adapt support strategies to meet the individual needs of students

Preferred Qualifications:

  • First Aid training
  • Mental Health Awareness training

Driving is desirable however the school does sits on a bus route.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
