Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant for a SEN school in Colchester. You will provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN, helping them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally in a safe, inclusive classroom.

This full-time role runs 8:30am-3:30pm, Monday to Friday, term-time only with weekly pay. A current DBS or willingness to apply is required, and a positive, proactive attitude is essential.

Qualifications

  • Genuine passion for supporting children with SEN is essential.
  • DBS update service or willingness to apply is required.
  • Positive attitude, strong initiative and following guidance from staff are essential.

About the Role:

We are looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant who are ready to make a positive impact on the lives of children with special educational needs. You’ll be providing 1:1 and small group support, helping students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. This is a deeply rewarding opportunity where no two days are the same!

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Supporting students from early years through to young adulthood with severe learning difficulties and additional needs.
  • Working closely with teachers and other professionals to deliver tailored learning support.
  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Assisting with classroom activities and encouraging student participation.

Full-time hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm - enjoy your weekends off! Term-time only position - perfect for work-life balance.

What We're Looking For:
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and helping them grow - essential!
  • Experience or understanding of autism, learning disabilities, and other SEN.
  • A current DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply.
  • Positive attitude, strong initiative, and the ability to follow guidance from teaching staff - essential qualities!

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
