Job description

Unqualified 1 to 1 SEN Learning support assistant.

Locations – Bristol Bath and Gloucestershire

Full time position available

Daily rate - £89 – £100

Teaching personnel are currently on the look out for passionate individuals to support and nurture students who have special educational needs (SEN) on a one to one basis.

SEN can include mental health disorders, physical disabilities, communication and behavioural difficulties. Making understanding and an empathetic persona a key aspect to this role, you will work with students aged between 5 and 16, playing a vital role within their academic careers.

Position details

  • September 2025 start date, and continuing throughout the academic year.
  • Monday to Friday, term times only.
  • Work available in Bristol Bath and Gloucestershire
  • 8:30am to 3:30pm (may vary depending on your specific school)
  • Opportunity to transition to a permanent contact with the school for the right candidate (if desirable)

What you’ll do:

  • Support the learning and development of a student, on a one-to-one basis
  • Assist the classroom teacher in delivering the school’s tailored curriculum, ensuring students stay engaged and involved with the lesson content
  • Support the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Build trusting relationships with the student helping them feel safe and perform at their academic best
  • Assist with learning activities and classwork, providing support as needed

The ideal candidate:

  • Someone with a deep passion for education, looking to start their career or build off of previous roles
  • Experience within an educational setting is desirable, however it is not essential.
  • Strong behavioural management and communication skills.
  • The ability to adapt your approach to suit different students and their individual needs
