Job summary

E-ACT West Walsall Academy is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to provide tailored academic and emotional support for pupils. Working closely with teachers, you will help students with additional needs thrive within an inclusive environment.

Role involves implementing planned activities, supervising pupils, supporting social–emotional well-being, and contributing to Individual Education/Behaviour plans under guidance. Two posts available, fixed-term and permanent options.

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and English minimum grade 4 or equivalent.
  • TA2 qualification or equivalent or relevant experience.
  • Relevant educational experience supporting a child/children in a school setting and the relevant age range.
  • Knowledge of strategies for spelling, reading and number skills.

Responsibilities

  • Implement planned learning activities/teacher programmes as agreed with the teacher, adjusting activities according to pupils’ responses as appropriate
  • Supervise and provide particular support for pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
  • Support pupils in social and emotional well-being, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour plans and Personal Care programs under the supervision and guidance of teaching staff
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs
