Job summary

Carshalton College is seeking a Learning Mentor to support and mentor learners with mental health or medical conditions, disabilities, or other support needs, helping them access the curriculum and complete their courses. The role emphasises excellent communication, mentoring experience, and knowledge of learners’ support needs.

The King’s Trust program aims to help students progress; DBS checks are part of due diligence, and the college offers a generous leave and pension package.

Qualifications

• Experience of working successfully with young people in a supporting/mentoring role.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good working knowledge of support needs of young people with mental health or medical conditions, disabilities or learning difficulties.

Responsibilities

• Provide mentoring and guidance to learners to help them access the curriculum and complete their course.
• Support learners with barriers to learning, including health, disability or contextual challenges.
