Job summary

Morgan Hunt UK Ltd is seeking a compassionate Learning Mentor to support learners with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) in a North London setting. The role involves providing personalised educational, communication, sensory, and personal care support to help learners achieve goals and participate in college life.

Working with teachers, therapists, and families, you will create a safe, inclusive learning environment that promotes independence, dignity, and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Level 2/3 qualification in Health & Social Care, Education, SEND or related field.
• Experience with PMLD or learners with complex needs.
• Ability to use Makaton or PECS is desirable.
• Willingness to undertake manual handling, PEG feeding, and medication training.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support for learners with PMLD.
• Assist learners to access educational activities and community-based learning.
• Support communication using Makaton, PECS, communication aids, and other specialist approaches.
• Deliver personal care with dignity and respect, including toileting, continence care, feeding, and changing where required.
• Support learners with complex medical needs, including PEG feeding and medication administration (training required).
• Carry out safe moving and handling procedures in line with individual care plans.
• Monitor learner wellbeing and respond appropriately to medical, behavioural, and safeguarding concerns.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, nursing teams, and parents/carers.
• Maintain accurate learner records and contribute to reviews and progress monitoring.
• Promote independence, confidence, and social inclusion at all times.
• Experience supporting individuals with PMLD, complex needs, SEND, or care settings.
• Understanding of person-centred approaches and inclusive practice.
• Confidence providing personal care and supporting intimate care needs.
• Experience or willingness to undertake training in manual handling, PEG feeding, and medication administration.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A patient, caring, and positive attitude.

About the Role

Working closely with teaching staff, therapists, and families, you will help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that promotes independence, dignity, and wellbeing.
