Job summary

Gateshead Council is seeking an experienced practitioner to support children and young people experiencing emotionally based school absence within the Education, Schools and Inclusion Service. You will mentor, intervene and collaborate with families, schools and partner agencies to reduce barriers and improve engagement in education.

You will build trusting relationships, deliver targeted one-to-one and small-group interventions, monitor progress and help reintegration into school or alternative

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • Strong understanding of child development and inclusive practice.
  • Experience planning and delivering one-to-one and small-group interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Build partnerships with families and schools to support children and young people experiencing emotionally based school absence.
  • Deliver mentoring, targeted interventions and personalised support to help children overcome barriers to learning.
  • Manage a caseload of children and young people, providing ongoing support and monitoring progress.
  • Work collaboratively with schools and multi-agency partners to address social, emotional and mental health needs and promote inclusion.
  • Develop resources, maintain records and contribute to monitoring the quality and impact of interventions.
