Learning Mentor
Location: Congleton, Cheshire
Pay: £88.92 - £100.53 per day (dependent on payroll choice)
Start Date: September 2025

About Us

This independent special school in Congleton, Cheshire, supports pupils aged 8-18 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Many students have faced significant challenges and disruptions in their education, and our school provides a safe, nurturing environment to help them re-engage with learning, develop essential skills, and achieve their potential.

We offer a bespoke curriculum that combines academic, vocational, social, and emotional learning. Working alongside clinical professionals, we create tailored support plans to meet the individual needs of each student and help them prepare for a fulfilling future.


The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Learning Mentor to join our team and support students in overcoming barriers to learning. As a Learning Mentor, you will:

  1. Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring to help students with their academic, social, and emotional development.
  2. Build trusting relationships with pupils to help them manage challenges and boost their confidence.
  3. Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to deliver individualised support plans.
  4. Assist students in achieving qualifications (SATs/GCSEs) and engaging in vocational studies such as beauty, catering, and life skills.
  5. Encourage positive behaviour and create a nurturing, inclusive learning environment.

About You

You are an enthusiastic and compassionate individual who is committed to helping young people succeed. You should:

  1. Have experience working with children or young people, especially those with SEND or barriers to learning.
  2. Be patient, empathetic, and resilient when faced with challenges.
  3. Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Be adaptable and creative in meeting the individual needs of students.
