Job summary

The Bedford College Group seeks a Learning Facilitator for the Foundation and Additional Learning Support department in Corby. You will provide study skills support, develop learning resources, and assist with assessments to promote student success.

The role is permanent term-time, 37 hours per week over 40 weeks annually, with a salary of £27,717 to £32,515 and benefits including annual leave, pension and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Educated to Level 3 with GCSE/Level 2 Maths and English.
  • Experience supporting students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
  • Strong communication, administration and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group study skills support.
  • Develop and maintain learning resources and assistive technologies.
  • Administer, mark and invigilate assessments and monitor student progress.
  • Maintain accurate student records and collaborate with curriculum staff.

Role: Learning Facilitator


Location: Corby


Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £27,717 and £32,515 per annum, pro rata DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.


Hours/Weeks:37 hours per week / 40 weeks per year


Contract Type:Permanent - Term Time

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Learning Facilitator to join our Foundation and Additional Learning Support department at The Bedford College Group.


As a Learning Facilitator, you play an important role in the success of our students through:



  • Study Skills Support - Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with identified Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities, developing their study, literacy and numeracy skills.

  • Learning Resources & Assistive Technology - Develop and maintain appropriate learning resources and assistive technologies to support individual student needs and enhance learning within the Study Centre.

  • Assessment & Student Progress - Administer, mark and invigilate assessments, working with curriculum teams to monitor attendance, progress and ongoing support needs.

  • Records, Collaboration & Service Improvement - Maintain accurate student records and support documentation, collaborate with curriculum staff and managers, and contribute ideas to improve the effectiveness of learning support services.

  • Safeguarding & College Responsibilities - Support College activities such as open days and inductions while fulfilling responsibilities for safeguarding, equality and diversity, health and safety, and ongoing training and professional development.


About you:


  • Qualifications & Specialist Training - Educated to Level 3 with GCSE/Level 2 Maths and English, alongside relevant education and training qualifications, with specialist SLDD, BSL, IT, First Aid, safeguarding and equality and diversity training beneficial.

  • Learning Support Experience - Experience supporting students with a range of learning difficulties and/or disabilities, including delivering English, maths or study skills support on a one-to-one or small-group basis across different ages and abilities.

  • Communication & Organisational Skills - Strong communication, administration and organisational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records, meet deadlines, work independently and confidently use Microsoft applications.

  • Inclusive & Student-Focused Approach - Sensitive to individual needs and committed to equality of opportunity, with the ability to build positive working relationships, collaborate effectively and demonstrate the College’s values of student focus, high performance, respect, openness and honesty.

  • Safeguarding, Flexibility & Mobility - Committed to safeguarding and maintaining appropriate professional boundaries, with a positive and adaptable approach, awareness of health and safety, willingness to undertake professional development and the ability to travel between College locations.
