Job summary

Guild Care in Worthing is seeking a part-time Learning Disability Support Worker for Mon, Tue, Wed and Fri 08:30-16:30 across two day centres. You will provide practical 1-to-1 support to adults with learning disabilities, helping with daily activities and meaningful engagement.

You’ll assist with personal care, mobility with hoists and wheelchairs, and promote independence in a compassionate, person-centred way. Training is provided from day one.

• Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with a range of people including service users, relatives, carers, staff and professionals
• Confidentiality awareness
• Physically fit with ability to push heavy wheelchairs
• Passion for assisting adults with learning disabilities and other complex needs

Guild Care are seeking a couple of part-time Learning Disability Support Workers for our day centres.

Hours/Days - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 08.30-16.30 = 30hours

At Guild Care, we’re proud to offer fantastic Learning Disability (LD) services that enable adults to live happy, fulfilling lives. Our services are at Methold House, Treetops Hub are our adult services and we have two day centres that you will be working across;

• Adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities (non verbal), offering personalised support, therapies, and activities that promote independence and wellbeing.

• A vibrant, activity-based day service where adults with learning disabilities can develop new skills, make friends, and enjoy creative, social, and recreational opportunities.

As a Support Worker, you need to be resilient as you’ll be at the heart of our mission, providing dedicated 1-to-1 support and befriending to individuals with learning disabilities. This role requires you to be physically fit as manual handling is involved and some of our adults have heavy wheelchairs. This may include offering personal care, but more importantly, it’s about building trust, encouraging independence, and helping people live life to the fullest.

About the role

As a Learning Disability Support Worker, you will provide practical care such as helping people dress, move safely with equipment such as hoists and wheelchairs, or enjoy mealtimes with comfort and dignity. You may also support with personal care, always ensuring individuals feel respected and valued.

• A passion for assisting adults with learning disabilities and other complex needs to live life to the full

Desired Criteria

• Knowledge and understanding of the needs of adults and children with learning and physical disabilities, complex health needs, and autism, and their carers.
• Experience of enabling people to engage in a wide range of activities within a day service setting and the local community
• Relevant professional Qualification (EG NVQ, QCF)
